![]() Thanks, DirectLA (and xserve) for getting back to me. I did double check just now and see that it mentioned 8.5 quarts for the c280 engine oil capacity and also 8.5 quarts for the transmission capacity, so maybe you read one of those. I found the info on page 156 of the owner's manual. Gsbenz, tho not specifically your issue, I have a 1999 c230 Kompressor and mine stated it holds 6.1 quarts, are you certain yours said 8.5? I'm not sure why there would be that much of a discrepancy. Let me know if any of these suggestions help on the next oil change. In my case I got exactly 6-quarts so I only left about 0.1 qt in the engine, which was nice since it meant I didn't have to open the last quart of oil I bought. Mine has a definite resistance when I hit bottom. My extractor has a flexible tube at the base nearest the can then connects to a more rigid tube for the length that actually goes down inside the dipstick tube, so if your mityvac has flexible the whole length you might want to try adding something more solid so it doesn't curl up. Note that if you put the tube in too far you might actually curl it up which would mean it isn't touching the bottom of the pan but positioned higher which could cause the failure to collect all the oil. Did you warm the oil slightly first by running the car to about 1/2 operating temp? Did you leave the filter off while suctioning so that you can get proper flow going? Sometimes the extractor will lose suction after some time, especially when it gets near the bottom of the pan so you may have to re-clamp the hose and build suction again by pumping, then release the clamp. Hi guys, I got most of mine out using this method so I can think of only a couple of possibilities. You can reset the FSS indicator whenever it shows up knowing you are on your own schedule now.
